Duplex Steel S32205 consists of around 22% chromium, 5–6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and ferritic-austenitic microstructure. This alloy yields tensile strength of 620–850 MPa and yield strength of ≥450 MPa, which is close to double compared to conventional austenitic stainless steels. It has very good resistance to pitting, stress-corrosion cracking, and crevice corrosion, particularly in chloride-enriched environments. The alloy has heat resisting properties and good weldability with low thermal expansion and high fatigue resistance, and hence is suitable for structural and corrosive service conditions.
