Monel K500 is a nickel-copper alloy that has been precipitation-hardened. It contains about 63% nickel and 30% copper, along with trace amounts of aluminum and titanium. This combination allows for age-hardening, resulting in a tensile strength of up to 965 MPa and a yield strength of 690 MPa, which is much higher than Monel 400. The alloy also offers strong resistance to chloride-induced corrosion, seawater erosion, and stress-corrosion cracking. It remains non-magnetic at below-zero temperatures and retains its strength in both very low and very high temperatures.
