Titanium Grade 5 forged fittings consist of an alloy of about 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium. This alpha-beta alloy has high tensile strength at about 895 MPa and yield strength at close to 828 MPa, and superior fatigue and corrosion resistance. In spite of their strength, these fittings are light in weight and have good performance at elevated temperatures up to approximately 400°C. Though weldability is somewhat reduced compared to pure titanium, Grade 5 fittings can be welded under appropriate procedures. The coupling of mechanical strength and corrosion resistance renders them suitable for heavy-duty and high-stress applications.
